National Technology Day



DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY :
National Technology Day to be celebrated focusing on rebooting the economy through S&T  
CII Conference:RE-START -Reboot the Economy through Science, Technology & Research  Translations
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Department of Science and Technology (DST), and Technology Development Board (TDB) have come together to organize a high-level Digital Conference, RE-START- Reboot the Economy through Science, Technology And Research Translations on 11 May 2020, from 1030 hrs - 1700 hrs. The major objective of the aforesaid digital conference is to bring together global innovators, technology leaders, disruptive entrepreneurs, policy makers, industry stalwarts and eminent academicians to share their experiences and expertise that will help turn massive complexity into meaningful change.
The conference will have technical sessions on ‘Medicines & Medical Technologies’; ‘Advanced Materials – New Technology Horizons’; ‘Advanced Manufacturing Technologies for Sustainable Future and Global Innovation’& Technology Alliance for Global Economic Leadership.

7th May 2020 -Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore 159th Birth Anniversary


Remembering Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on 159th Birth Anniversary   
Rabindranath Tagore a prolific writer whose works ranged from poetry and songs to short stories and plays. was born on 7 May 1861. He was the first Indian to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. He also created an educational setup called ‘Shanti Niketan’based on practical activities.  Rabindranath Tagore is the only known person who has written the national anthems for three different countries India, Shri Lanka and Bangladesh. He wrote 'Jana Gana Mana', the national anthem for India, 'Nama Nama Sri Lanka Mata' in Bengali, for Sri Lanka and ‘Amar Sonar Bangla', the national anthem for Bangladesh.
  Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, multifaceted genius –poet, writer, painter, philosopher passed away on August 7, 1941.

National Digital Libary of India


Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) has initiated the National Digital Library of India (NDL India) pilot project to develop a framework of virtual repository of learning resources with a single-window search facility. Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find out the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDL India is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for leading Indian languages. It is being arranged to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular form of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is being developed to help students to prepare for entrance and competitive examination, to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. The pilot project is devising a framework that is being scaled up with respect to content volume and diversity to serve all levels and disciplines of learners. It is being developed at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
National Digital Library of India (NDLI India) is an all-digital library that stores information (metadata) about different types of digital contents including books, articles, videos, audios, thesis and other educational materials relevant for users from varying educational levels and capabilities. It provides a single-window search facility to access digital contents currently existing in India as well as other digital sources under a single umbrella.
